This extraordinary doll is one of the largest we've seen. It measures 21.5" and is traditional in style with squarish head, cylindrical body and rounded shoulders. The facial features are well-drawn and dramatic. The body is painted with rings at the top and bottom with some paint wear to the floral design. There is an area around the top and bottom rings with moisture spots. There is a small nick on the right front head, near the neck. The wood is a soft golden color from age. There is an small old crack at the top of the head, hardly noticeable in the hair area.
This item is clearly signed "Gashiku". Please see item #156 for a companion doll with the same markings.
