Impressive 17" traditional-shape kokeshi doll with hand-painted mountain water scene and poetry in script. The artist has incorporated the natural bark at the top and bottom of the body. The wood has acquired a nice golden patina. There are two makers' marks, presumably the wood craftman's stamp on the bottom and the painter's signature on the body. The head has a crack that goes from left temple to center back, as shown in photo. Some of the hair and bow paint on the top of the head has worn off, also shown in photo.
