Kimono Place Condition Ratings
Our kimono have been previously worn (unless noted in description). Most are vintage from the 1940's to 1980's and we try to enumerate any damage found. Please keep in mind these are not museum pieces; our pieces and prices reflect our belief that the simple elegance of the forms should be accessible to the widest audience for wearing, display and education.
EXCELLENT--Very light or no signs of wear or storage. Light-colored fabric, especially silk, will probably show some discoloration, as expected with age. No holes or threadbare areas.
VERY GOOD--A few signs of wear or storage. May have discoloration from storage. May have slight marks or slightly dingy areas, as expected from normal use. No holes or threadbare areas
GOOD--Several or significant areas of wear or storage. May show evidence of good use such as moisture stains and dingy hem, sleeve and collar areas. May have very small holes (only if noted).
Bargain Bin--Usable for fabric pieces in sewing, crafts or framing, form or fabric study, costume for school, church or theater productions or dress-up. In their current form, these pieces are probably not usable for clothing or display. |
