Yakusha Hagaki means "actor postcards." They were distributed in the early 20th century for trading and collecting. Many of these postcards are famous kabuki actors and other live theater performers--unfortunately, we cannot identify them.

Male actors called onnagata play all female roles in kabuki theater, so most of the women in elaborate kimono portrayed in the hagaki are actually men.
